Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?

wojuh Yawmaidhin khashi'ah

Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

āmila nasibah

Labouring (hard), weary,-

tasla Nara Hamiyah

The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-

tuska ain aniya

The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,

laysa lahum taam illa min dharee

No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'

la Yusminu yughnee min ju

Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.

wojuh yawma'ithin na'imah

(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,

lisahiha

Pleased with their striving,-

fay Jannah aaliya

In a Garden on high,

la tasma'u feeha Laghia

Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:

feeha ain ja-ree-ah

Therein will be a bubbling spring:

feeha Surur marfoo'ah

Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,

wa akwabun mauzuah

Goblets placed (ready),

venamāriqoo masfufah

And cushions set in rows,

Vezarabi mabthuthah

And rich carpets (all) spread out.

a-fa-laa yanzuroon ilaa Al-iblee kayfa khuliqat

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-

wa-ila As-sama kayfa roofeet

And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-

wa-ila al-jibaal kayfa nusibat

And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-

wa-ila Al-ard kayfa sootehat

And at the Earth, how it is spread out?

fazkir Innama anta mudhakir

Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

laste bimoo-sigh-teer

Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

illa man tawalla wa kafara

But if any turn away and reject Allah,-

fayu'adhhibu Allah Al-azaab Al-akbar

Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,

Inna ilayna ee-ya-ba-hum

For to Us will be their return;

thumma Inna alayna hisabahum

Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
