Al-Mursalat

Wal mursalaat urfan

By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit);

Fal'asifat asfan

Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts,

Walnashira faith te nashran

And scatter (things) far and wide;

Fal-fa-ree-ka-tee farqan

Then separate them, one from another,

Falmulkijati dhikra

Then spread abroad a Message,

uzran ow nuzh-ra

Whether of Justification or of Warning;-

too-a-doo-non lava faith Qaf

Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass.

feidha An-nujoom toomeset

Then when the stars become dim;

wa iza As-samaa Foorijat

When the heaven is cleft asunder;

wa iza Al-jibaalu noosefet

When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust;

wa iza Ar-rusulu Uqtitat

And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);-

li-ayyi yaum ujjilat

For what Day are these (portents) deferred?

Layomi Al-Fasli

For the Day of Sorting out.

adraka ma yaum Al-Fasli

And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out?

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

Alam nuhliki Al-awwaleen

Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)?

thumma Nut-bi-oo-hum Al-ākhirīna

So shall We make later (generations) follow them.

kaza faith leka naf'alu Bil-mujrimeen

Thus do We deal with men of sin.

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

Alam nakh-luk-koom min maa maheen

Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?-

Fa-ja-lna-hoo fay karar Makeen

The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed,

ila kadar ma'loom

For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)?

fakadarna fanim Al-Qadirun

For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things).

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth!

Alam najali Al-ard kefatan

Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together.

ahyaun Wa-amwa faith ta

The living and the dead,

Waja'alna feeha roa faith sey-ah Shamikhat wa-asqaynakum Furataan

And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

Intalikoo ila ma kuntum behi too-kath-thi-boon

(It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false!

Intalikoo ila Dhille zee thalathi shuab

"Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns,

la Zaleel yughnee mina Allahabi

"(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze.

Innaha termi besharar kal kasri

"Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts,

ka'anna-hoo Jemalathun sufr

"As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)."

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

hatha yaum yantiqoona

That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak.

yoo-uthanu lahum faya'tziroon

Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas.

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

hatha yaum Jamanakum Wal-awwaleen

That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)!

feh-in kana lakum kayd fekidoone

Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me!

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

Inna Al-muttaqeen fay Zilal va'yoon

As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).

vafava faith keha mema yashtuuna

And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire.

kulu washrooboo Hania bima ta'maLOON

"Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness).

kaza faith leka najzee Al-muhsinin

Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

kulu wa tamatta'oo kaleelan Innakum mujrimoon

(O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners.

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

wa iza Keela lahum Irka'u yark'auna

And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so.

Wayl yawma'ithin Lilmukazzibin

Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!

fe-bay-yee Hadith ba'dahu yoo-mee-noon

Then what Message, after that, will they believe in?
