Bismi Allah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem

    Wan-najm eeza Haua

    By the Star when it goes down,-

    ma dalla vama ghawaa

    Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.

    vama yantiqu ane

    Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.

    hu illa wahy Yoo-ha

    It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:

    shadeed Al-Quwa

    He was taught by one Mighty in Power,

    zu merrah fastawā

    Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);

    Wahuwah bel-oo-fook Al A'la

    While he was in the highest part of the horizon:

    thumma dana fatadaɫaa

    Then he approached and came closer,

    fakana Kaba kawseyni ow adna

    And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;

    Feuhia ila auha

    So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.

    ma kadhaba Al fu'adu ma ra'a

    The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.

    A-fa-too-ma-roo-na-hoo Ala ma Yara

    Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?

    Wa-lakd raahu nazlatan ukhra

    For indeed he saw him at a second descent,

    enda Sidrah Al-Muntahā

    Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:

    indaha Jannah

    Near it is the Garden of Abode.

    ith yashia As-sidrah ma yaghsha

    Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)

    ma zag Al-Basari vama Tagha

    (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!

    Lakad ayat Rabbihe

    For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!

    Afara'aytum Allahu Wal Uzza

    Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza,

    Wamanuata Ath-thalitha Al ukhra

    And another, the third (goddess), Manat?

    alekumu Al-thakaru Wallahu Al-unsa

    What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female?

    telka eeza Kismah Ziziya

    Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!

    heya Asma sammaytemoo-ha antum waaabaaukoom anzala Allah beha min sultan in yattabi'oona illa Ath-thanna vama tuh-wah Al-anfusu Wa-lakd Jaa-ahum min Rabbihimu Al-Huda

    These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!

    am Lil insan ma Tamanna

    Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after?

    Fa lil lahi Al-akhiratu Wal-ul-ya

    But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong.

    vakam min malak fay As-samawa faith te tugh-nee Shafa'atuhum shay'an illa ba'di an yazana Allah Yesha vajerda

    How many-so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.

    Inna Alladheena yoo-mee-noon Bil'akhirati layousammoona Al-Malaika Tasmiyah Al-unsa

    Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.

    vama behi ilmin in yattabi'oona illa wa inna Ath-thanna yughnee mina Al-Haqqi

    But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.

    Fa'ir an men tawalla an Zikrina wa lam yured illa Al-hayah Dunya

    Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.

    dha faith leka mablaguhum min Al-ilm Inna Rabbak hu a'lamu biman dalla an sabeelihi Wahuwah a'lamu bimani ihtada

    That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily thy Lord knoweth best those who stray from His Path, and He knoweth best those who receive guidance.

    Walillah ma fay As-samawa faith te vama fay Al-ard layziya Alladheena Asau bima vayghziya Alladheena ah-sen-oo Bilhusna

    Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.

    Alladheena yajtaniboon kaba'ira Al-ith-mee Wal-Fawa faith Hesha illa Allamama Inna Rabbak and faith seh-oo hu a'lamu bekum ith min Al-ard Wa-iz antum ajinah fay butooni Ummahatikum fala tuzakua hu a'lamu bimani ittakā

    Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.

    Afarajta al-ladhee tawalla

    Seest thou one who turns back,

    a indahu Ilmu Al-ghaybi fahuwa

    What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?

    am lam yunabba bima fay suhufee

    Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses-

    And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?-

    Alla taziroo wazeera Wezra ukhra

    Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;

    waa an laysa Lil insan illa ma Sa'a

    That man can have nothing but what he strives for;

    waanna saiyahu sauf yura

    That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight:

    thumma yuj-za-hu Al-jazaa Al awfa

    Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete;

    waanna ila Rab-bik Al-Muntahā

    That to thy Lord is the final Goal;

    Wa-anna-hu hu adhaka wa abkya

    Wa-anna-hu hu amata wa hya

    That it is He Who granteth Death and Life;

    That He did create in pairs,- male and female,

    That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star);

    ahlaka adan Al-oola

    And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),

    And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.
